Geist Half Marathon

Lori ran the half marathon. It was impressive to be 5 1/2 months pregnant and to finish in under 2 hours. This is baby girl's first race. Good job, Lori.

Baby Birds

We have enjoyed watching a robin lay her eggs in a nest that was against our house. We have watched them go from blue eggs, to new birds. Just this week they flew away. The reason that they flew away is because Anna and Dad got too close to the nest and scared them. Corbin spent the next hour trying to catch them in a ice cream bucket and yelling at Anna and Cole to keep Polly in the house so she did not eat them while he tried to put the birds back in the nest while dodging every robin, cardinal and swallow in the neighborhood doing kamakazis at his head. He was unsuccessful in his quest to keep the growing birds in their nests. (hope they survived) He got no lunch and had to go back to work, but Lori enjoyed the free entertainment.

Mother's Day Cards

Mother's Day was great. It started a day early as Cole decided to dive into the diamond neckalace that we had picked out for Lori and before I could stop it had went into my hiding place got the neckalace and gave it to his Mom on Saturday night. It all worked out as we went over to John and Kathy's for a Saturday night Mother's Day get together. It was really nice. We mainly just relaxed and enjoyed and tried to recover from a busy week.
Both cards were great. Cole made his at school. Anna made her card in her room as she took two pieces of paper and taped them together to make a giant card. She is quiet creative and has a mind that never seems to stop.

The Pig Story Book

I just wanted to mention that Anna made a book which tells the story about a little pig and his adventures through his birthday, Christmas, Halloween, and the 4th of July. Lori helped her make the book out of cardboard and cloth with paper inside, but Anna did the rest in terms of the story. We have now read the 23 page book over and over. She told me she wanted to make copies and sell it. How this "young aurthor convention" inspired her.

Cole

Cole has learned to ride his bike without training wheels when he was three http://corbinpartridge.blogspot.com/2008/11/crash.html and now just recently he goes without a push to get started and so he has become very independent and harder to keep track of (We thought we lost him but we found he down throwing rocks in the creek after a 1/2 hour). Usually as soon as he is awake he has slipped his john deer cowboy boots on and is out for a bicycle ride up the street. He checks under the rocks in the front yard for any caterpillars or rolly polly bugs and then he is ready for breakfast. Did I mention that he has a pair of handcuffs around the handlebars of his bike, "just in case I find a bad guy" he tells me. He is all about getting bad guys and tells me all the time he wants to go to Iraq to get them!

Young Authors Conference

Anna was invited to a young authors conference. They learned how authors and illustrators write and publish books. She took a book that she had written to share with her group. It was a great learning experience for her. We were excited for her to be chosen.

Life Role Model

Anna was given the Life Role Model at school. She has done an excellent job at school and seems to be like a fish in water when it comes to being in class. She loves school and seems to be excelling tremendously.

Cousin's Camp

We had cousin's camp at Grandma's house. Everyone had fun visiting "Best Friends" animal sanctuary, tie dying t-shirts, hunting for Easter eggs and going for a hay ride. It was nice to have most of our family together for the day.

Grandma's swing update

I forgot to mention that Grandma's swing is fun until your arms slip or you forget to hold on tightly enough. Cole slipped and got a few scratches. Anna wasn't so lucky as the picture shows.

Grandma's Swing

Grandma has a fun swing behind her house. You start at the top of the hill and swing to the bottom.
